Having migrated to the U.S. from the Philippines at age eight, Angelica has spent over 25 years fighting for justice in areas including tenants’ rights, environmental protection, and language access. As a leader at SOMCAN, her work is rooted in building collective power, leading successful local and state initiatives, most notably spearheading the successful passage of SoMa Pilipinas, establishing the Filipino Cultural Heritage District in San Francisco.
