Principal Daniels, Principal Bissonnette, & Principal Edwards

Dr. Dina Edwards, Principal Leigh Daniels, and Principal Daniel Bissonnette are three exceptional educators who lead our Read to Achieve partner schools. First, from Sheridan Elementary, we celebrate Dr. Edwards. For over thirty years, Dr. Edwards has strengthened the Lakeview community by building a school rooted in equity and support. From weekend food programs to after-school enrichment, her belief that every student and staff member possesses an "inner genius" has made Sheridan a place where generations of families return to thrive. Next, from Brookfield Village Elementary, we honor Principal Daniels. With over twenty-five years of experience and a background in education law, Leigh has dedicated her life to advocating for children and their families. Guided by the motto, “It takes a village,” she ensures that Brookfield Village remains a safe, nurturing environment for every learner. Finally, we recognize Principal Bissonnette, the founding principal of the Montessori program at Brookfield Village. A dedicated Oakland educator for over fifteen years, Daniel has been instrumental in launching the district’s first-ever Montessori program, driven by the core belief that every child deserves freedom, respect, and dignity in the classroom.
