Chop ‘N Chat

On Nov. 14, Generation Thrive hosted Chop ’N Chat led by Celebrity Chef Nikki Shaw as she demonstrated holiday-themed healthy meals for Bay Area educators and nonprofit practitioners. Golden State Warriors legend Festus Ezeli assisted Chef Nikki in the demonstration. The menu showcased holiday staples and guests received recipe cards and Generation Thrive branded measuring cups to replicate the demonstrated meals in their home kitchen. Guests were also able to enjoy a holiday catered meal during the event.

Willie Brown Middle School Holiday Tree Giveaway

Generation Thrive hosted its fourth annual Holiday Tree Giveaway at Willie Brown Middle School, the official adopted school of the Warriors Community Foundation. 60 Willie Brown Middle School families were invited to the school campus to receive a Christmas tree, ornaments, tree lights, a DoorDash Gift Card, and wrapped holiday gifts. Additionally, the entire school enjoyed an indoor holiday party that included a hot chocolate station, cookie decorating, a holiday photo booth, and playing Pop-A-Shot.

The Warriors hosted Dessert with the Dubs, presented by ampm. Warriors players Kyle Anderson and Quinten Post joined youth from Mobilize Love for a fun cookie decorating experience in the Warriors team shop, followed by a shopping spree.

Christmas with the Currys

Spreading holiday cheer throughout the Bay Area! As part of Season of Giving, the Warriors supported the 12th annual Christmas with the Currys at Madison Park Academy in Oakland hosted by Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation. Students experienced a pop-up book fair, games, a newly refreshed library, and more!

The  Warriors supported the Gary Payton II Foundation in bringing joy to Bay Area youth this holiday season at a Winter Wonderland event. Youth and families received gifts and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Children's Hospital Visits, presented by Kaiser Permanente

The Warriors in partnership with Kaiser Permanente surprised pediatric patients at Kaiser Permanente’s Oakland Medical Center with Warriors-themed gift bags and a special surprise holiday visit from Warriors players Brandin Podziemski and Pat Spencer.

Swishes for Dishes, presented by Kaiser Permanente

The Warriors partnered with Kaiser Permanente, The Athletes’ Corner, Feeding America, and the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to support their warehouse grocery packing for community members in need. Warriors Box Office staff members were onsite to volunteer.

Swishes for Dishes Holiday Market, presented by Kaiser Permanente

As part of the Swishes for Dishes program, the Warriors and Kaiser Permanente, in collaboration with The Athletes' Corner and Feeding America, hosted a Holiday Market at Thrive City, where 100 local families shopped a holiday-themed pop-up pantry and stocked up on free grocery items to prepare a holiday meal. Additionally, Warriors legend and television analyst Kelenna Azubuike was in attendance to help pack groceries and share his Famous Gourmet Cornbread.

SF SPCA Holiday Windows, presented by PetMeds

Warriors Legend Adonal Foyle made an appearance at the Macy’s San Francisco SPCA Holiday Windows in Union Square, presented by PetMeds. Foyle helped encourage and educate guests on animal adoption and holistic health through PetMeds.

The Warriors and Kaiser Permanente teamed up to provide a special community hosting experience for various non-profit organizations during Thrive City’s Winter Wonderland including ice skating, Tree Lighting Ceremony, Hanukkah Celebration, Kwanzaa and Noon Year’s Eve.

Golden State Warriors Launch Twinning Project at California State Prison Solano

The Warriors, in collaboration with the Twinning Project and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), launched a six-week basketball program aimed at decreasing recidivism rates and enhancing the readiness of incarcerated individuals for life post-release at California State Prison Solano. Led by Warriors Basketball Academy staff and representatives from Positive Coaching Alliance, the program involved a series of clinics concentrating on coaching fundamentals, leadership, and relationship building.

Principal for a Day, presented by CarMax

The Warriors in partnership with CarMax hosted Principal for a Day as part of the Back to School initiative, where Warriors player Gui Santos visited Willie Brown Jr. Middle School in San Francisco to read the morning announcements, visit different classrooms, and hand out back to school supplies to the students.

The Golden State Warriors hosted Pride Night presented by Accenture on October 30th, 2024. This night included a Thrive City Pre-Game Fest, Fireside Chat featuring Emmy-winning veteran comedy writer and producer, Harper Steele, and Community Mixer inside the Modelo Cantina during the game.

Monthly Mentorship Program, presented by 2K

The Warriors hosted a tipoff event to the Monthly Mentorship Program presented by 2K with MENTOR California, featuring McClymonds High School student athletes. Each month, Warriors mentors join McClymonds High School students for skill building workshops led by MENTOR California. The goal of the program is to provide students with various business opportunities and insights throughout the school year that prepare them to be future leaders.

Hoops for Troops Game Night, presented by Rocket Lawyer

The Warriors and Rocket Lawyer celebrated Hoops for Troops Night by hosting 10 TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) survivors for a Meet and Greet with Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr, special game experience that included a pregame arena tour, courtside shootaround, gift bags, live in-game shoutout, and post game free throws on the court.

Bridging the Bay

Generation Thrive welcomed its fourth cohort of Bridging the Bay, Igniting Leaders of Change, presented by Rocket Lawyer, in its pursuit of innovative nonprofit capacity building. The program offers experiential and intensive leadership development for 16 esteemed Executive and C-Suite leaders of Bay Area youth-serving nonprofits. Throughout the program, participants will refine their leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and tackle key topics such as navigating conflict, fostering belonging, and balancing leadership. As a benefit of this program, participants will receive one-on-one executive coaching, strategic networking, and self-care practices to further empower their leadership.

The Black History Month Celebration in Thrive City is a yearly celebration to celebrate Black culture and provide entertainment and education to fans of all ages. Activities include live music, guest speakers, black owned business food vendors, local black business booths, and arts/craft stations. The event will also feature spoken word by students within the Oakland Unified School District and a powerful closing remark by KQED journalist Otis Taylor Jr.

2025 NBA All-Star HBCU Classic

 In 1890, the Morrill Land Grant Act facilitated the growth of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Black students once denied access to education, now had the opportunity to pursue their education through the doors opened by HBCUs.

During the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend, Morehouse College and Tuskegee University will compete in the HBCU Classic presented by AT&T. This event is an opportunity to not only highlight the talent at these institutions but also celebrate the history of HBCUs and their impact on black culture.
