Thrive Zone, presented by Kaiser Permanente: Chris Paul

The Warriors and the Chris Paul Family Foundation teamed up for a special meet and greet between Chris Paul and students of 100% College Prep after the February 23rd game against the Charlotte Hornets as part of Thrive Zone, presented by Kaiser Permanente. Chris also gifted t-shirts provided by Support Black Colleges and shared words of encouragement as the students explore HBCUs.

Thrive Zone, presented by Kaiser Permanente: Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson and the Thompson Family Foundation surprised Warriors fan, Sisseline, from the Challenged Athletes Foundation with a custom basketball wheelchair on March 7th before the game against the Chicago Bulls, as part of Thrive Zone, presented by Kaiser Permanente. Sisseline won the national French Wheelchair Basketball Tournament for U23!

Peaceful Warriors, presented by Adobe: Pat Spencer

The Golden State Warriors and Santa Cruz Warriors, in partnership with Adobe, present Peaceful Warriors, a mindfulness and emotional wellness program for 4th and 5th grade students at four different elementary schools across the Bay Area, followed by seven weeks of virtual mindfulness programming with Mindful Life Project. Pat Spencer dropped in for a visit to Ann Soldo Elementary in Watsonville.

Warriors Community Foundation Charity Poker Tournament, presented by MGM Rewards

The 10th Annual Warriors Charity Poker Tournament, presented by MGM Rewards, took place on Friday, March 8th, at Chase Center. The event raised over $3.5 million for the Warriors Community Foundation, a record high. All Warriors players and coaches were in attendance and were joined by Warriors owners, partners and fans.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be awarded to local nonprofits ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, as part of the Foundation’s annual grant program supporting educational equity in Alameda and San Francisco Counties.

Warriors Community Foundation

The Warriors Community Foundation capped off the 2023-24 regular season with the conclusion of their stat-based donation programs. Culminating in check presentations, the Foundation celebrated the end of “Hoops 4 Kids” presented by Salesforce, “Free Throws for Futures” presented by the PG&E Foundation, “Dunks for Donations” presented by Rakuten, ”Steals That Give” presented by Peet’s Coffee, “Defend Confidently” presented by Rocket Lawyer and “Victory Donation” presented by Globalization Partners. Raising over $3 million for the Foundation, these programs will be distributed to local nonprofits working to advance educational equity.

Mentorship Program, presented by 2K

The Warriors, in partnership with 2K, continued the Mentorship Program through which Warriors employees are paired with students from McClymonds High School to provide professional development opportunities and skill-building workshops with the help of MENTOR California.

  • January 7th: The Warriors hosted a pregame panel discussion and job shadowing with Warriors employees and students from McClymonds High School in celebration of Mentorship Month.
  • January 31st: The Warriors General Manager, Mike Dunleavy, and GSW Mentors visited McClymonds High School to speak to students surrounding team culture, atmosphere and mentorship.
  • February 12th: The Warriors and students from McClymonds High School experienced an exclusive tour of the 2K MOCAP studio.

Hoops for Troops, presented by Rocket Lawyer

The Warriors, in partnership with Rocket Lawyer, visited Moffett Federal Airfield during Drill Weekend to host a chalk talk for Air National Guard service members as a part of Hoops for Troops. Warriors legend, Adonal Foyle, toured the base, met servicemembers, and hosted a chalk talk with airmen about Black History Month and their experiences of resiliency. Other Hoops for Troops events held throughout the season include:

Swishes for Dishes, presented by Kaiser Permanente

Swishes for Dishes presented by Kaiser Permanente, in collaboration with The Athletes’ Corner and Feeding America – On the court, every point counts. Off the court, every point feeds. For every point the Warriors score, 100 meals are donated to prevent hunger. During the 2023- ’24 season, 1 million meals were committed to local food banks to support Bay Area families. The Warriors also hosted Swishes for Dishes volunteer events throughout the season to support the food distributions of local food banks:

  • December 14th: Warriors Suites staff volunteered with SF-Marin Food Bank to support their pop-up food distribution at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
  • December 20th: Warriors Membership Services and Kaiser Permanente staff volunteered at the Alameda County Community Food Bank to support their warehouse grocery packing.
  • January 22nd: Warriors Arena Operations staff volunteered at the Alameda County Community Food Bank to support their warehouse grocery packing.
  • February 8th: Warriors Black Alliance Network staff members assembled nutritional snack bags at Thrive City that were distributed to a local community organization through Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.
  • March 26th: Warriors AAPI Dubs staff members assembled nutritional snack bags at Thrive City that were distributed to a local community organization through SF-Marin Food Bank.

Black History Month Celebration, presented by Waymo

The Warriors hosted the annual Black History Month Celebration at Thrive City, presented by Waymo. The event consisted of live entertainment, arts and crafts activities, and samples of culinary delights.

Community Basketball Clinic, presented by Kaiser Permanente

The Warriors and Kaiser Permanente hosted a basketball clinic for students through Playworks. Students received basketball instruction from Warriors Basketball Academy, fitness and wellness speakers/activities, nutritious lunch and giveaways.

Fueling Young Athletes, presented by Chevron

The Warriors, in partnership with Chevron, brought youth from WCC Salesian Boys & Girls Club and Rosie the Riveter Trust to participate in two respective Warriors Basketball Academy clinics at the Warriors’ Oakland Facility. The focus of these clinics was the intersection of STEM and basketball with a special appearance from Warriors legends, Chris Mullin and Jim Barnett.

Read To Achieve, presented by Ross

The Warriors presented Read To Achieve, in partnership with Ross Stores, at Burckhalter Elementary School and George Washington Carver Elementary School during the second semester of the school year. The events included Warriors Lester Quinones and Jerome Robinson reading literary works tied to Black History Month and Women's Empowerment Month, Blue Crew dance group, giveaways, and so much more!

  • January 7th: The Warriors hosted the Burckhalter and GW Carver Elementary School communities at a home game, which included non profit tabling groups and a book drive for fans to donate books to the two schools.
  • January 16th: Adonal Foyle surprised the two schools with a book donation and drop off, encouraging the students to start their semester strong and encourage their literacy journey.
  • February 15th: The Warriors Black Alliance Network and Ross volunteers spent the day at Burckhalter Elementary School reading literary works from Black authors in celebration of Black History Month.
  • February 28th: The Warriors Black Alliance Network and Ross volunteers spent the day at GW Carver Elementary School reading literary works from Black authors in celebration of Black History Month.
  • March 5th: The Warriors and Lester Quinones, in partnership with Ross, hosted a Reading Rally Celebration in celebration of Women’s Empowerment at Burckhalter Elementary School. The event also included giveaways and the Blue Crew dance group.
  • March 19th: The Warriors and Jerome Robinson, in partnership with Ross, hosted a Reading Rally Celebration in celebration of Women’s Empowerment at a local elementary school. The event also included giveaways and the Blue Crew dance group.
  • April 27th: The Warriors hosted a Reading Celebration at Thrive City, which included over 1000+ free books for community members, food, music, lawn games, and reading activity stations. Adonal Foyle and the Blue Crew dance team kicked the program off by reading his own children's story + a literary and musical performance from RHYMOSAURS Hip-Hop Dinosaurs!

Women in STEAM Lunch & Learn, presented by 1Password

As a kickoff to STEAMFest, the Golden State Warriors in partnership with 1Password held a Women in STEAM lunch and learn with young women from Self-eSTEM, where women executives from 1Password and GSW IT department spoke and networked with youth. The event also included a Laptop Donation and an official invitation to STEAMFest at Chase Center.

The Golden State Warriors and 1Password hosted STEAMFest at Chase Center prior to the Santa Cruz Warriors vs. Rio Grande Valley Raptors game. The event included science, technology, electronic, art, and mathematics demonstrations throughout Chase Center and introduced local youth to STEAM related field and organizations.

Future Leaders, presented by Rakuten

The Warriors, in partnership with Rakuten, hosted the 6th annual Future Leaders program with 18 participants from Girls Inc. and 18 mentors from the Warriors and Rakuten. Participants in this two-day series connected with their mentors, engaged in a panel discussion around WEM, and went on a surprise shopping experience for professional clothing that makes them feel bold and confident.

Small Business Jumpstart, presented by TriNet

The Golden State Warriors, in partnership with TriNet, hosted a panel discussion for Bay Area business owners around talent acquisition and retention as part of the Small Business Jumpstart program. In addition, five local businesses were selected to receive a $10,000 grant and recognized during a Warriors home game in March.

The Warriors presented Warrior Women, in partnership with Rakuten, that was designed to support expectant and new mothers in under-resourced communities in the Bay Area by providing holistic support services in the areas of mental health, physical health, and career resources.

Warriors Basketball Academy Community Clinic Chica's Series, presented by NBC Bay Area, Telemundo 48 & NBC Sports Bay Area

The Warriors and Warriors Basketball Academy, in partnership with NBC Sports Bay Area, Telemundo 48, and NBC Bay Area, provided a three-part series basketball clinic for young ladies of Homies Empowerment. Youth received dinner, custom jerseys and shoes, a meet and greet, and concluded with tickets to a game in April. The program also included a special panel of women from NBC, Telemundo, and the Warriors speaking to the girls on being a woman in sports,  reaching their goals, and facing adversity.

3rd Annual Educators Night

Generation Thrive hosted its 3rd Annual Educators Appreciation Night presented by Kaiser Permanente on Wednesday, January 24th against the Atlanta Hawks! This night was dedicated to Bay Area educators and celebrated them for their tireless commitment to students and families. Before the game, educators were invited to attend a pre-game panel hosted by Warriors Legend, Festus Ezeli that featured students from local schools highlighting the importance of educators and the great impact they have on students.

Minds Right

On February 20th, Generation Thrive, in collaboration with Golden State Warriors Entertainment and Dope Era, launched the first activation of the multi-series program, “Minds Right.” Educators gathered in Generation Thrive, Oakland for a fireside chat with Bay Area rapper and community activist, Mistah Fab, and Chicago rapper, songwriter, and humanitarian Rhymefest, followed by a basketball clinic with the Warriors Basketball Academy. Educators were moved by the conversation focused on mental health and the healing power of music.

Thrive and Defend

In honor of Women’s Empowerment month, on March 25th, Generation Thrive hosted Thrive & Defend, a self-defense workshop designed for women-identifying educators at Generation Thrive, Oakland. Educators learned essential skills like self-defense fundamentals, awareness strategies, and distance management techniques.

Bridging the Bay, Igniting Leaders of Change, presented by Rocket Lawyer

On March 27th, the third cohort of Bridging the Bay, Igniting Leaders of Change, presented by Rocket Lawyer graduated at the Generation Thrive, Oakland community space.  The program offered experiential and intensive leadership development and support for 16 esteemed Executive and C-Suite leaders. Many participants are Warriors Community Foundation grant recipients, guiding Bay Area pre-kindergarten through 12th grade youth-serving nonprofits. The curriculum included experiential activities to learn and practice six key leadership skills such as self-awareness, communication, critical thinking, inclusion, collaboration, and empowered professionalism.
