Blanche Richardson

Blanche Richardson is a pillar of the Oakland community and owner of Marcus Books, the nation’s oldest Black-owned bookstore. A tireless advocate for Black literature, Blanche has transformed her store into a sanctuary for cultural engagement and education. Beyond the shelves, she collaborates with local schools to bridge the gap in literacy and access, uplifting marginalized voices and preserving a vital piece of American literary history.
