Brad Reiss, a native San Franciscan, lived on the streets in the tenderloin for several years until he was incarcerated. It was during incarceration that Brad took the opportunity to turn his live around. His past experiences have prepared him to be an active advocate for those experiencing homelessness. While working on a documentary regarding the plight of people experiencing homelessness in San Francisco, Brad realized it wasn’t a documentary that they needed but compassionate interaction and life’s basic essentials. Working with like-minded individuals who have experienced personal traumas, Brad formed the non-profit organization Healers Without Borders. During team distributions, Healers Without Borders volunteers meet the homeless where they’re at by providing basic essentials such as hygiene kits, warm clothes, blankets, socks, and friendship. A simple conversation can make such a difference and bring a smile to a person often feeling alone and neglected. Being a non-profit organization, Healers Without Borders relies on individual and corporate charitable donations to fund their efforts and volunteers are always needed to help with team distributions.
