Donald Lacy is a writer, director actor. Comedian and activist. He is the Executive Director of the LoveLife Foundation which was founded for Donald’s 16-year-old daughter LoEshe’ pronounced-(LO-E-SHAY), who was murdered on October 20. 1997, an innocent victim to a shooting. Since that time the LoveLife Foundation has worked with thousands of at-risk youths to violence in Oakland and the Bay Area. The Foundation trains youth in media and performance arts to produce anti violence programs. These programs have received awards from the U.S. Congress, The Red Cross, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency and several prestigious others The LoveLife Foundation also teaches financial literacy and College Readiness, and raises money for college scholarships for youths who attend 4-year colleges. Due to the work of Donald and the LoveLife Foundation the Oakland City Council adopted “LoveLife” as the official motto of the city of Oakland. In 2019 Donald appeared on CNN’s The Redemption Project Donald met for the first time 1 man convicted of murdering his daughter and forgave him on camera to set an example of forgiveness. In 2018 the Studio City Film festival created the Donald Lacy, Jr. Social Justice award for filmmakers whose films address social issues.
