James Head

James W. Head is a seasoned philanthropic leader and social justice advocate. As the former President and CEO of the East Bay Community Foundation, James led the organization to be named the “boldest community foundation in America.” He pioneered programs like ASCEND-BLO to sustain Black-led organizations and has devoted his career to tearing down structural barriers. Beyond his legal and executive leadership, James is a vital bridge-builder, working tirelessly to unite African-American and AAPI communities to address hate, foster dialogue, and build collective power across the Bay Area.
