Obasi Davis is a 27 year old artist, designer & educator out of Oakland, California. He believes in the power of art to create change as well as the influence dynamic educators can have on developing youth. Obasi is a First Wave scholar and graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison where he majored in Apparel Design. In 2014, he created a summer internship program for the Office Of African American Male Achievement in OUSD and was the program manager until 2020. In 2019 Obasi graduated college and became a teacher at Redwood Heights in Oakland California before he transitioned to his current position as a Program Manager for Kingmakers of Oakland (KOO). As a program manager with KOO, Obasi led and facilitated the inaugural cohort of Kingmaker’s TFI College Access Program, a 3 year program focused on increasing the number of Black and Latino males in higher education. Obasi comes from a family of educators who have dedicated their lives to educating and uplifting youth of color and believes it is his responsibility to continue his family’s legacy of teaching the next generation so that they can be better than the last.
